March 2012 Exhibit:

Jen Tracy

Jen Tracy is a New Jersey artist best known for her intimate watercolor and ink depictions of modern life. She holds a BFA in painting and art history from The Savannah College of Art and Design. While Jen is currently focusing on small works, she once was primarily an oil painter. Her large, public murals can be found throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

Jen Tracy's watercolor and ink paintings are created on site. They start as watercolor abstractions. The colors used are exaggerated, rarely referring to actual objects. The purpose of the bottom layer is to capture the mood of the scene. Jen then uses a drafting pen to carefully measure and define the drawing. She refines the shapes and shadows with watercolor paint. Watercolor and pen are used alternatively until the piece is finished.
