Shirley Hawthorne

When Shirley travels she steps off the main road to search beyond the popular sights into the behind the scenes world to experience the essence of the nature and culture of an area and its people.

Likewise, she strives for something like this in her art work.  Hoping to capture a spirit and feeling that goes beyond the surface image of everyday subjects.

Art is her quest to know the world more fully and more intimately.  With that in mind, she is not content to limit herself to one media or style, but to constantly experiment to find a new way to express the wonder that she experiences.
